about curious music
Are you Curious?
Curious Music is a curated art label dedicated to the creation and exploration of experiences that blend sound and art in unified compositions. Inspired by the Japanese concept of “Ma” and a belief in “less is more,” the label produces works crafted in an environment known for its museum-level quality.
Founded by Russ Curry, whose vision has been shaped by decades of work in art and sound, Curious Music reflects a commitment to immersive and thought-provoking projects. From meticulously crafted vinyl releases, immersive sound installations, and a fine art print series, each work invites a dialogue between auditory and visual forms. The label’s installations, such as The Roedelius Cells and Moebius Strips, have been exhibited internationally in venues including the Kunstverein in Austria, the Figge Museum in Davenport, Iowa, the Toledo Museum of Art, the Villa Aurora in Los Angeles, and ESS in Chicago.
Collaborating with renowned artists such as Harold Budd, Fabio Capanni, Peter Chilvers, Luca Formentini, Petulia Mattioli, Mark Mothersbaugh, Hans-Joachim Roedelius, Suki Sou, Tim Story, and Dom Theobald, Curious Music approaches every release as an evolving entity—an ongoing creative journey beyond the moment of release, where the art and the audience fully engage, creating space for connection and interpretation.
In a sense, Curious Music is not so much a label as it is a space for creatively thoughtful experiences, welcoming audiences into a carefully curated realm where art, music, expression and contemplation converge. Through immersive sound installations, refined vinyl editions, and a fine art print series, Curious Music offers an experience that is resonant and timeless.
