Maria Teriaeva’s Sayan - Savoie Now Available in the U.S. via Curious Music
Curious Music is proud to announce that we are offering U.S. distribution for Sayan - Savoie, the latest album from Maria Teriaeva. This self-released album is available in a very limited quantity, and we have been allocated only a small number of copies. These are currently available through the Curious Music website while supplies last.
Spanning 2022–2024 and recorded between Annecy and Paris, Sayan - Savoie captures Maria’s emotional journey in exile. Balancing external chaos and inner peace, she blends Buchla synthesizer, guitar, electric organ, and vocoder, drawing connections between her childhood in Siberia’s Sayan Mountains and her new life in the French Alps of Savoie.
“While working on this album, I found myself reflecting on what unites us, rather than divides us. In places that seem so different—Siberia’s Sayan Mountains and the French Alps—I noticed common threads: snowy mountains, a closeness to nature, shared scents, a slower pace of life, and solitude. Most powerfully, I felt a deep sense of familiarity, with flashes of childhood, even in a foreign place.”
Beyond geography, Sayan - Savoie reflects a personal transformation. “After years of restraint back home, I’m starting to be more open and true to myself, especially as a queer person.” The music, too, carries this newfound confidence, inviting listeners into its world of self-acceptance and reinvention.
Curious Music is thrilled to bring Sayan - Savoie to U.S. listeners. Order now while supplies last at Curious Music’s website.
About Maria Teriaeva
Originally from Siberia, Maria first gained recognition with Focus (2017), her debut solo album recorded using the Buchla Easel. She expanded her approach on Conservatory of Flowers (2020), integrating the Buchla 200e system with strings and brass, resulting in a precise, structured interplay of electronic and acoustic elements.
In addition to her solo work, Maria has composed for film, created music for immersive installations, and participated in the Red Bull Music Academy (2015). A recipient of the Collège de France’s Pause program (2022–2023), she has also held a residency at École supérieure d’art d’Annecy Alpes (ESAAA) (2022–2023) and is a member of L’atelier des artistes en exil in France.
