Rhythmic Land: Five New Prints

We are delighted to announce the release of the second edition of the Curious Music Fine Art Series - Rhythmic Land: Five New Prints - from the artist Dom Theobald. This edition has been created exclusively for Curious Music and is not available elsewhere.

The edition comes in a very limited quantity of five copies of each print, numbered and signed by the artist and printed on high-quality handmade Hahnemühle photo rag premium paper.

Artist Statement

This is where I live. These five new images use backdrops of landscape: my versions of East Anglia’s landscape and coastline.  Into these scenes I have placed forms: plants and houses, trees and paths, boats and clouds, animals. These are rhythmic images, to be heard visually. I have always conflated images and sounds - to me they are the same things at different points along continuums. Both solid, both ethereal. 

Like lots of painters, I am heavily influenced by music and musical composition. Music starts with elements and with abstraction, and relies on rhythm, repetition, and the spaces between events. My work happens in this territory.   My conversations about painting are usually with musicians, who tend to interpret visual structures in sonic terms. I have made album covers for Brian Eno and Roger Eno. Roger and I like to make films and other audiovisual events. And now I’m delighted to be invited to work with Curious Music on this project. About Dom Theobald

Dom Theobald (born 1963, UK) is a painter, printmaker, digital artist and filmmaker. He studied at Norwich School of Art and the Slade School of Art. His work has been shown in solo and group shows in the USA, Japan, Portugal, Germany, Denmark, Italy and the UK, since 1989. Recent collaborations include films, CD covers and audiovisual installations with composer Roger Eno. His work is collected worldwide. Recently he provided paintings for the covers of Brian Eno and Roger Eno's album Mixing Colours and EP Luminous. He has just returned from a highly successful solo show in Trentino, Italy. He lives and works in East Anglia, England.
