Curious Music and Groenland Records are pleased to announce the 20th anniversary special edition release of Lunz by Tim Story and Hans-Joachim Roedelius.
This very special release comes newly remastered by Tim Story as a digtial download, collector’s edition cd with four covers (limited to 250 per cover worldwide), and a double 180-gram audiophile vinyl release with hand-numbered and signed art print (limited to 500 copies worldwide).
Lunz was the second collaboration of the German electronic music legend Hans-Joachim Roedelius (Cluster, Harmonia) and Grammy-nominated American composer/producer Tim Story. Lunz was the culmination of the composers’ 25-year mutual admiration and friendship, and the beginning of a prolific partnership that spawned six acclaimed albums, audio art installations and live concerts across Europe and the US.
When Lunz originally hit the record shop shelves of London, listeners knew of the Roedelius/Story collaboration only via a few concerts and the abstract musique concrete of their limited edition cd Persistence of Memory. Lunz quickly changed that with 12 timeless and beautiful miniatures, each creating a unique sense of time and place with a surreal blend of melody, texture and mood. Lunz inhabits a world all its own, of lush acoustics and angular electronics, translucent pianos and dark ambiences. It's a mysterious world where the innocent and the distressed occupy the same singular environment, coalescing perfectly. 20 years on, Lunz remains a fan favorite and a landmark addition to both artists body of work.
Curious Music is pleased to collaborate with Berlin’s Groenland Records for this definitive release – the first-ever appearance of Lunz on vinyl – in a spectacular double vinyl gatefold with an extra bonus track from the original sessions, and a special cd release with 4 distinct covers by graphic artist Sebastian Boecking. Groenland is well known for curating the esteemed catalogs of Harmonia and NEU! as well as innovative new work by many other artists.

About Tim Story
Grammy-nominated American composer and sound artist Tim Story (b. 1957) has been called a “true artist in the electronic medium” (Victory Review, USA). Through three decades of influential recordings, live performances and audio installations, Story’s unique blend of inspired composition and innovative sound design has garnered a dedicated worldwide following. His recent audio installation The Roedelius Cells has been exhibited in museums and new music festivals in Europe and the US, including the prestigious Big Ears Festival in 2019.
About Hans-Joachim Roedelius
Austria-based German composer Hans-Joachim Roedelius has profoundly influenced generations of musicians in a career spanning more than a half-century and over 100 solo and collaborative recordings. From his work with Cluster (with Dieter Moebius), to his genre-crossing solo works and productions with collaborators including Lloyd Cole, Brian Eno, Morgan Fisher, Christoph Mueller, TM Schneider and many more, Roedelius is recognized as one of Europe’s most important sound pioneers.
