Deeply rooted in Los Angeles’s vibrant creative landscape, this duo finds harmony in contrast, merging classical formality with the fluid, exploratory spirit of electronic soundscapes. Together, they have forged a new musically curious world, incorporating trance-like use of violin extended techniques and drone synthesis to take listeners on a hypnotic sonic narrative.
Stephanie Yu (Hustlekat) is a renowned violinist and artist whose work transcends tradition. Working with a range of artists spanning from Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, Danny Elfman, Itzhak Perlman, Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad, she approaches the violin as both a melodic instrument and a sculptural force, layering emotive phrasing to create textures that pulse with vitality and introspection.
Collin Davis (Ynes Mon) is an artist, producer and sound designer known for crafting immersive sonic environments. With collaborations alongside artists such as Laraaji and Sudan Archives and a foundational role as an engineer at the iconic Stones Throw Studio, Davis creates music that challenges ambient conventions. His work balances intimacy with expansiveness, evoking emotion and contemplation.
The duo is hard at work on their debut release – Altar of Tomorrow - arriving on Curious Music later this year - a project poised to transport listeners into realms of expansive depth and quiet discovery. More information on this highly anticipated release will be shared soon.
